The 2-day forum is an opportunity for sheep breeders - who are integral to the advancement of genetics in New Zealand - to share ideas with fellow breeders, talk to us about our programme and hear updates on innovations and research currently underway.

What we’ll cover

On Day one we’ll be discussing new science and innovations in genetics, the New Zealand Genetic Evaluation (NZGE) and proposed changes and technologies for genetic evaluations. The afternoon finishes with an open discussion on the strategy for New Zealand sheep genetics.

Beef + Lamb New Zealand General Manager Nick Beeby and Special Agricultural Trade Envoy for New Zealand Mike Peterson will be guest speakers during drinks and dinner on Monday night.

Day two of the Sheep Breeder Forum will begin with a focus on the Central Progeny Test, followed by a series of interactive workshops in the afternoon.
